Meet the Team

Meet the Team

London NTS is staffed by a skilled multidisciplinary team of Consultant Neonatologists, Paediatric & Neonatal doctors, Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioners, Senior Neonatal Nurses, Ambulance technicians from St John Ambulance Service and a supporting team of administrators.

Dr Nandiran Ratnavel (Rats) – Consultant

I trained at St George’s Hospital Medical School London, qualifying in 1994. After house jobs leapt straight into paediatrics with SHO rotations through Lewisham & Guys followed by 6 months of PICU at Guys which also involved retrieval with the as then new South Thames Retrieval Service in 1998. I then went into neonatology in the first year of grid training culminating in a final 6 months as a registrar with the London Neonatal Transfer Service. Following this I took up a consultant position in the same service which also included working attending weeks on the neonatal unit at The Royal London Hospital. Since then I am the  Chair of the UK Neonatal Transport Group, and Chair of the Thames Perinatal Group

In my spare time I play the drums in an imaginary band.

Burak Salgin – Consultant

Sharon Lott – Matron

I have worked within the NICU speciality for over 25 years; having obtained my Neonatal Degree and ENNP qualification at Kings College University.  I am proud to have obtained the role of the Matron from March 2023. My passion is Neonatal Retrieval and Stabilisation; and the resulting safe journey for both the baby and their family.  I am very focussed on Education, and enjoy running the Neonatal Emergencies Simulated Team Training (NESTT) courses within London and the wider regions.

Sonya Silby – Office Manager

I started working at Barts Health in 1988, and by 1998 I was managing the staff and clinics in paediatric outpatients and paediatric medical records, both at the Royal London and the St. Bartholomew’s sites. In 2003 I was successful when I applied for the post as coordinator in the Neonatal Transport Service, and this is where I have been ever since, as you can tell I enjoy working in Paediatrics / Neonates and hope to continue until I retire. I have gained lots of experience in my time at this trust and I am pleased to be working with such an excellent team, working collaboratively together to shape an excellent transfer service.

Outside of work I enjoy being creative, both through crafting and baking and I am rather nifty at DIY. If anyone needs anything not in an ordinary office store cupboard they would usually find it in my desk drawer.
